Judgement Day

Everyone in my building judges me. Granted, I give them reason to judge me, but honestly, it is rude and I don't judge them, that much, so they shouldn't judge me.

For starters, they look at my outfits like I am a hooker. I am not saying that I wear the most professional clothes, I am just saying that I definitely own sluttier clothes than what I wear to work. My boss doesn't mind that I dress in clothing that doubles as going out clothes, so I see no need to spend tons of money on new dress clothes. For example. Today, I wore a long sleeved cowl neck black sweater dress that is fitted through the hips. It meets the finger tip rule the way I am wearing it and I have on flats with it. When I wore this out a couple of weekends ago, I pulled it up so that it wouldn't meet the finger tip rule and I wore very high heels that I am almost positive a stripper that I know owns and wears for her performances. Apparently the "conservative" look that I am trying to pull off today just isn't cutting it because everyone looks at me in their pin striped suits on the elevator and I can just imagine what they are thinking. Simultaneously, I am thinking "Why didn't I wear those clutch shoes with this? At least then these looks would be somewhat deserved." My other outfits that get stares are my low cut tops from Forever 21 that I wear with dress pants (and sometimes a cardigan). I guess my reasoning is that I like the way that I feel in slutty clothes more than I do in business attire and since no one here takes me seriously anyways, why try to change that with my appearance.

Judging also comes in when I go to work out after I get off. My building is equip with a great gym facility that I get to use for free. After work most days, I head down there for a little cardio action. By a little cardio action, I mean 30 minutes. I run 3 miles on the treadmill, get off and leave the room. Everyone else in there feels the need to spend 7 hours working out. It is recommended that you do a minimum of 30 minutes of cardio 3 times a week. I do it like 5 so shut up work out Barbie and don't look at me like I am doing something wrong. They also like to look at me like I am a fool when they walk in and I have the TV on Gilmore Girls. Sorry that no one else was in the room when I came in. I am not going to pretend like I want to watch the news when I can totally engross myself in teeny bopper television. Nudity in the locker room is apparently also looked down upon. I like to change right next to my locker. At every other gym, this is not an issue. I am not totally naked so why act awkward when I do it? I mean for realz, you guys are being more awkward by going into a small bathroom stall to put on your shorts. Finally, they all act like I am crazy because I want to shower at my house. As soon as I am done with my work out, I grab my stuff and go home, where I can shower without flip flops and sing at the top of my lungs. Yes, you idiots I am going to shower. No, I don't love being covered in sweat.

The attitudes don't stop there. No, no, no, the snotty professionals in the lobby and the beefed up folks in the gym have now got the janitorial staff on their side. They all walk in my office and look at me while I am texting away or daydreaming and you can see them thinking "she gets paid for this?" as I am obviously irritated by the fact that their vacuuming is breaking my concentration on these important tasks. Don't get me wrong, I am thankful for the services that they provide, I am not thankful, however, for the glares that they give. Another janitorial staff judgement issue revolves around two staff members that are always together. When I walk by, I always politely say hello and smile. They never respond. They just stare at me. WTF? Right?! Well, after doing this for the past five months, I recently found out that they are deaf and mute. Now I feel like the asshole. And they think I am a moron.

Finally, as the youngest one in the office, my coworkers themselves judge my actions outside of work. They ask about my weekend and pry for information but then act like I should be struck by lightening when I share it with them. I don't even give them the details. For example, I shared with one lady that I met this really great guy when I was out of town a couple of weeks ago. We went to some bar and got really drunk and acted like idiots but had a blast. What I didn't share was the intense make out sesh or the fact that I blacked out and don't remember part of the night. Seriously lady, don't ask if you don't want to know. I censor my stories and you still act like I am crazy. If only she knew what I did in college.

The part that really gets me with all of these folks is that they act like they are so perfect. Well guess what, you aren't! You, Mr. Professional in the elevator, were at happy hour the other night and I saw the lady you were all over. She dresses just like me. And you, Mr. Workout machine, I witnessed your purchase at the snack machine. Did you really need those Hot Fries? And you, Janitor Man, missed a spot over there while mopping. And don't even get me started on you, Miss CoWorker, I've met your son, he is way more out of control than I am. All I am saying is don't throw rocks if you live in a glass house. Actually, don't throw rocks even if you live in a normal house. Someone can get hurt and then there will be rocks everywhere and no one wants to run those over and screw up their tires.
